Challenge
Our client was a Germany based Sustainable Energy company focused on Geothermal developments. They were preparing to develop their 1st development project, a Geothermal Power project – ever, which required the design and operational programming of a suitable Well Test to confirm productivity and injectivity of a deep Geothermal well.
Local health and safety regulations as well as environmental permitting challenges also existed.
Approach
Our assigned project lead was an industry expert who had over 30 years of global geothermal project experience in drilling, well testing and power plant design.
To fully understand the clients project goals and well objectives, local supply chain market, stakeholders, schedule constraints etc, we undertook a thorough analysis before commencing the well test design process.
Solution
Telos took the lead on the Well test engineering process which allowed us to optimally and efficiently provide solutions to our client.
It was essential to utilise remote working technology to sustain project progress, which allowed for regular meetings to quickly calibrate understanding and maintain alignment with the client.
An analysis of the supply chain was conducted to ascertain local supply chain technical competence.
A Well Test Basis of Design was developed and peer reviewed, which allowed for all design inputs and criteria to be fully defined and validated.
Operational work programming development and contracting was led by the Telos team.
Outcome
Our client benefited greatly from the engineering capability, assurance and general geothermal experience that Telos was able to deploy on this assignment which reduced project uncertainty and risk profile.
We were able to share 30+ years of knowledge of global geothermal practices, which enabled the client to accelerate their own retained ‘body of knowledge’.
