Challenge
Our client – a global International Data Centre provider, wanted support for the development of an e-learning module suitable for use in their own learning management system (LMS). The training course was required to cover workplace risk and included a Level 1 (awareness) and level 2 (knowledge) of comprehension across the workforce on the following topics:
- Office environment
- Construction sites
- Live data centre (operations and maintenance)
Approach
At the onset of the project, Telos confirmed the training mandate and learning objectives for the module, reviewed our client Management System documentation and developed the structure and content of the training module to meet the agreed learning objectives. The Telos project team then developed a tailored e-learning module in the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) format.
Solution
The e-learning modules included simple animations and voice overs where appropriate. To enhance the trainee ownership of the training material as well as the realism of the training for each training participant, training modules included where possible, actual images of the workplace environment from within our client Data Centre, and in particular hazards and risks associated with the subject area of the training.
Gamification was also introduced where possible through additional interactive elements, such as questionnaires for comprehension assessment.
The modules were developed in English, then translated in German and Spanish. Voice-over was recorded professionally in all three languages and applied to all required audio-files.
Outcome
Delivered through our client own LMS, the modules enable them to track the learning status and performance for all participating trainees, as well as issue each trainee with a completion of training certificate.
